Looks like most of us are SoL (unsurprisingly). According to https://www.smoothfitness.com/company-story (where there is of course no customer service number or anything helpful, just sales)...

"In December of 2014, ICON Health & Fitness purchased the trademarks and URLs of Smooth Fitness and has continued in its objective to help people enhance their lives by providing top-level exercise equipment at competitive prices. As a result of this purchase, ICON Health & Fitness will only honor the warranties of Smooth Fitnessยฎ products purchased after December 10, 2014 from www.smoothfitness.com."

So for those of us who bought machines before 12/10/2014, no warranties honored.

I bought an Agile DMT X2 elliptical from Smooth Fitness in July, was told it was back-ordered until September, finally received it on October 15. I got white-glove delivery and installation but noticed that the machine needed some adjustments and repairs within the first two weeks (not unusual for a machine to need some adjustments).

I contacted Smooth and got no response (twice via email and web form). I called Smooth Customer Service today and was informed that the company went out of business in early October and the warranty was useless.

So basically, now I have a $2000 less-than-a-month old elliptical that needs service and is under warranty but is basically a waste. I know that I am not alone. Please let's start a class-action suit at http://topclassactions.com/start-a-class-action/

Reason of review: Company skipped town, won't honor warranty.

Monetary Loss: $2039.

Preferred solution: I want my warranty honored..

Location: Washington, District Of Columbia

I have a Smoth Fitness Eliptical that stopped working for the second time. Now it just sits there due to the company going out of business.

Under Warrenty but that is useless. lLooks like they are still selling on there web site.

Stay away from Smooth. Only thing SMOOTH is in the way they took my money.

Im in the same boat. It totally sucks.

My control panel doesn't work.

Treadmill Doc will sell me a new one for $500 even thought I thought I had a lifetime warranty. Gee thanks.

The website is now down and some former Smooth employees are now working at http://www.treadmilldoctor.com, which will do your parts/repair stuff but they will not honor the Smooth warranty (reasonable as they aren't at fault and they are a different company). I don't know what to do now.

Any suggestions? Is a class-action suit the way to go?

I too have a SmoothFitness product that is only a year old. In that time it has gotten about 30 days of use. Has anyone initiated a class action yet?

I have the same problem, my elipical is only 13 months old. I went to class action suit site below and could not find anything that deals with Smooth Fitness.

I am in, but will need assistance finding how we can make this happen. They falsely advertised great warranties.

I have contacted my credit card company to dispute my purchase, since I'm having similar issues with needing parts that should be covered under warranty on an elliptical that I have had less than 60 days, and have assembled a fraud case for them to refund my money back to me. I'm still waiting to see how it pans out, but I will update as soon as I find out one way or another what they are going to do for me.

I had been told by multiple outlets to take this step first. There's quite a bit of evidence that they want for this process, but it's worth it if they can get a refund for you.

Hey, Josh. Ditto with me and my credit-card company.

Something interesting I learned today from chatting with the warranty guys (a separate company that inherited the Smooth debacle and has the burden of telling Smooth customers that we are SOL) is that this is not the first time that Smooth has "suspended operations." Apparently they did it once before for a month or two and then got back in and started selling machines and honoring warranties. We'll see. For me, any way one slices it, they knew what they were doing and when and they left a lot of people in a very-expensive lurch. Totally unethical.

Let's keep each other posted. Best to you!

Thank you for this update. I am having a similar issue.

Bought a brand new treadmill from this company in September.

Needed some adjustments and called service only to be told that they have shut the doors and the warranty is void. Please keep me updated and I am glad to join in on action against these unethical business people.

Same scenario here. I have contacted PayPal and they are looking for something more concrete about them going out of business.

Except for this complaint board, I can not find anything else related to this. If anyone has found or finds something relating to Smooth Fitness closing, please pass it on.

The *** thing is - their website is still active and they are still selling treadmills - just ran into the same thing today that they have "suspended operations" - but it sure doesn't look like anything is suspended.

According to website "http://www.proformcoupon.com/articles/smooth-fitness-is-in-trouble/" the following statement is quoted as coming from the company directly.

"One customer who recently bought a treadmill from Smooth got this response about his pending order (full review found here, on Yelp):

โ€œMESSAGE FROM BUSINESS:

Due to financial constraints, Smooth Fitness has suspended operations while we seek new financing. If youโ€™re a customer who has placed an order that youโ€™ve not yet received, we will either be in touch with you via email or post a notice on our web site early next week as to the status of your order.

If you own a piece of equipment and have questions or need service, please check back with us next week.

If you are interested in purchasing equipment, we ask that you periodically check our web site, http://smoothfitness.com, for availability. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your interest in SmoothFitness products.โ€

That is the closest thing to a notice of bankruptcy that is available at this point, but hopefully the company will come forward very soon and let everyone know what the situation is."

Does anyone have more?

***! The control module on my Agile X2i Elliptical trainer just started going nuts (keeps jacking up the motion to max when I press to bump it up only once, or just locks up).

The trainer is only a year old and still under warranty, so I figured I'd be covered. However, seeing what you're all going through, it looks like I'm SOL. Thanks for the tip to contact my credit card company. Will definitely do that.

Also, if anyone has news on a class action suit, please post it. This is just wrong to bait so many people.
